Skid Loader Attachments
By Pete Gross
If you're looking at skid loader attachments, then you're already convinced of the versatility and practicality of the skid loader.
A skid steer loader can go places where a tractor can't even think of fitting. This allows you to use equipment to do the "heavy lifting" in places where manual labor may have been the only option previously.
In fact, many people feel that the skid steer loader is much more useful than a tractor, and to encourage that opinion, there are many different accessories that can be attached to the average skid loader.
Some of the more well known skid loader attachments include a snowblower, post hole digger, bucket and pallet forks.
Some of the accessories not so well know include a rock bucket (it looks like a bucket with fingers so that loose dirt can fall through, leaving the rocks), a round or square bale spear (to pick up and move large hay bales), stump grinder, a wood chipper (for small branches and limbs), a trencher (useful for irrigation acreage where trenches must be dug regularly), and a tree spade (to dig up large trees). You can get mowers and a backhoe attachment. There is even a "calf corral" attachment for those times you may need to transport a new calf.
And these are just a few of the many skid steer loader attachments available today!
It used to be that these loader accessories could only be found at the local equipment dealer, but today many retailers carry them. Now you can find these accessories at local farm stores as well as John Deere or International equipment dealers, some home improvement stores and even online.
In fact, it's a good idea to browse online before you go to the dealer. This allows you to get a good sense of the equipment available and the average expense. That way when you visit your local farm equipment dealer, you'll have an idea as to what a good price would be on your chosen loader attachment.
Skid loader attachments are available for just about any make of loader, including John Deere, Skid Steer, CAT, Ditch Witch, Bobcat, Case, New Holland and more.
